About Talkatone

Our mission is to allow users to communicate with anyone, anywhere for free. Currently, phone carriers charge lots of money to make calls and send texts. It doesn't have to be this way. Everyday, 500,000 people use Talkatone to save money on their cellphone bill.

How does it works?

Talkatone is built on top of Google Voice. Users set up Google Voice (which is free), download the Talkatone iOS or Android app and then use the app to call or text any number for free over WiFi or 3G/4G without using any cell phone minutes.

Talkatone is particularly useful for:

  • Heavy phone users who can now make most calls via WiFi or 3G/4G and thus purchase a cheaper cellphone plan
  • People traveling abroad who want to call home for free without paying high international surcharges
  • Making/receiving calls from an iPad

How is Talkatone different from …?

  • Skype is only free if the recipient installs Skype and offers lower call quality on mobile
  • Google Voice iOS app uses cell minutes instead of VOIP and thus still uses your cell minutes
  • Viber, Pinger and FaceTime require the recipient to have the app installed
